Week #31 - Over / Under

Well this week is going to be quite the challenge....

This week's challenge is: Over / Under

Good luck and I look forward to seeing your photos :)

Late Backlight photo

I have been trying to find the right picture to take all this week, and then tonight, all the sudden I saw the sky and thought..."hey, the sky is a great backlight photo!" So, I didn't have my camera, so I used my phone camera....thought the picture turned out pretty good! (seeing as it was taken from the car - thank goodness Bob was at the red light!)

I LOVE Backlighting...

Backlighting is really one of my favorite photography techniques. Here are some from our back garden this evening:

A stunning example of what backlighting can achieve. These hollyhocks are almost black but come alive when backlit. That is when you see that they are actually a very dark shade of red!

This one is of a spider web on the well

I like this one because I tried to get the sun shining through the middle of the figurine

This one is my favorite, I think - the evening sun shining through the leaves.

My comfort foods

Here are my comfort foods...(although the first one is a drink :)

There are just some days when a cup of tea just does the trick

Chocolate and Peanut Butter - the two things go together and is definitely a huge comfort food for me.

And last but not least, McDonalds is my favorite comfort food!!
(and I always eat the french fries first!!)

Comfort Foods...

Well, this was an easy challenge, but not so easy to photograph as Mandy borrowed my camera for the week... However, Dad's is still a Canon ;) so I am using that.

Here is my all-time favorite comfort food. I couldn't make it or I would have had to eat it, so here's the ingredients (plus I confess that I use a bit of margarine as well - *blushes*). If I am stressed, hide the peanut butter!!!!

Next is my comfort drink and, interestingly enough, I can only find it now at Save-On (yay!). In the evening, when I want to relax before bed, Horlicks is my drink of choice ("have you seen my childhood?").

And, last but not least, my while-I-am-at-the-checkout-counter-and-I-am-stressed food choice is:

...and, yup...it is empty. Sigh.

oopsy... late again

Sorryyyyy.... I'm posting this really late, but the photo was taken last week - so I guess it's kind of ok;-)

This is a building on my way to work and I never really noticed there was a fountain in front of it - so thank you weekly photo challenge, I might have never seen it.
Will be back with my comfort food - but I can already tell you it'll be late as well. Sorry for that.
Love Sandrine

I thought I'd try both freezing water and blurring it for this challenge.

The first photo is my favorite. Unfortunately, Blogger has decided that it will not post it as it was taken but insists on turning it:

These two following ones are also of the fountain in our well:

Another one, this time of the sprinkler, showing the motion of the water:

And, finally, here it is blurred at Lundbreck Falls:

Filtered Water

Bob bought me a Brita water filter for our new sink :)

Week #27 - Water

Well folks, can you believe it? We are already half way through the year, which means half way through our photo challenge!!

Thanks Mum and Sandrine for the fireworks pictures, it's so awesome to know that you guys are doing this with me. I love your photos!

This week's photo challenge is: Water

Good luck, and I look forward to seeing your photos!!
Well, like Kristy, I thought that I might not make the challenge this year as I found out mid-week that Picture Butte fireworks are in August, not on July 1st. Lethbridge had them at 11 p.m. but we didn't want to stay in town that long. In the end, Mandy and Floyd said that they heard Shaughnessy (two-bit town five minutes from us) was having them so we figured it would be 11 p.m. there as well. At 10:35 I went out into the backyard and could hear explosions so Floyd and I jumped in Gadget (our new car) and set off in search of fireworks. However, when we got there, most people were leaving so we figured we had missed the display. We had just parked and gotten out of the vehicle when a few more lit the sky. So I did manage to pull off a couple of photos but have to say that I broke the majority of the cardinal rules in photographing fireworks, the main one being: using a tripod. Hence the squiggly lines and blurred images. In August, when I can sit in my back yard and watch them, I plan to be prepared and, who knows, maybe I'll post another one then...

As close to fireworks as I got this year....

Seeing as I haven't been in Canada for Canada Day for the last three years, I was hoping to be able to go and see fireworks tonight. Although I didn't want to brave the crowds, I figured for the sake of the weekly challenge, I would go ;-)

Well - that didn't happen due to Bob and I moving and I had to work today. After I got done work, we went to our church camp out. I was talking to one of the girls there and saying how I wanted to see them, or at least get a photo of them

She just laughed and said, that they had some store bought ones, but they couldn't light them tonight due to the city, regulations.

I asked her if I could just get a picture of them....seeing as I wasn't going to see them go off. She took me into her garage and I snapped this picture for you to all see.

I still never did see the fireworks in the sky.....maybe next year ;)

LOL...Love the name of them, Enemy Territory!
